At Stuarts Framework Construction Limited, we recognize that our industry involves inherent risks, demanding absolute commitment to the highest standards of Health & Safety management.

Our top priority is ensuring a safe working environment by implementing rigorous safety measures, including comprehensive training, clear communication, and effective supervision. We equip our operatives with the right tools and resources to perform their tasks safely, ensuring that every worker and anyone impacted by our projects—including site personnel and the general public—remains protected at all times.

We take pride in our strong safety record, maintaining a low incident and accident rate, and we remain fully committed to keeping our RIDDOR accident frequency as close to zero as possible. We believe that any accident is one too many, and our ongoing goal is to eliminate risks wherever possible.

To achieve this, we have developed our own proactive approach to safety—“Stuarts-SAFE”—which integrates all essential elements of effective Health & Safety management to uphold industry-leading standards across all our projects.

The company is committed to the provision and upkeep of current Health & Safety training, promoting both company and employee development.

As a company minimum standard, all Stuarts operatives hold current CSCS/CPCS (or recognised equivalent) trade/job specific competency cards, with additional training provided for specialist job roles, applicable works activities, and use of required works equipment. Examples (not limited to) below:

CITB - Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) trained Site Managers
CITB - Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) trained Site Supervisors
Plant operators (Excavators, Dumpers, Ride-on-Rollers, MEWPS, etc.)
Working at height (fall restraint/arrest PPE systems)
Works in Confined Spaces (typically associated with access to drainage systems)
Buried services location (“CAT & Genny” equipment)
Access equipment (PASMA training for the erection, inspection & maintenance of Mobile Towers)

To ensure the safety of our workforce and full compliance with current legislation, Stuarts Framework Construction Limited partners with a respected and industry-recommended Health & Safety consultancy.

Led by Chris Kember, CK Safety Consultancy Ltd (CKSC) brings over 35 years of industry-specific Health & Safety expertise, including specialized training and compliance support. With 24/7 access to expert guidance, we continuously monitor, educate, and train our team to the highest standards, providing our clients with peace of mind through our proactive approach to Health & Safety.

Our projects undergo regular site visits from competent and qualified Health & Safety Advisors from CKSC. These visits include comprehensive safety audits, covering site conditions, plant certification checks, operative competency assessments, and the delivery of toolbox talks and safety briefings. A detailed report is then prepared, outlining findings and recommendations, which is shared with both site and senior management to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.

All works activities undertaken by us are set out within detailed and approved SSOW documentation prepared with the assistance of CKSC. These SSOW detail the applicable methods and sequences of work required to complete them safely, complete with risk assessment for all activities. All operatives receive a full, recorded briefing on the SSOW applicable to them by the Site Manager/Supervisor prior to commencing works on site.

Health & Safety information is communicated to our workforce in a number of ways:

Through briefings of the SSOW & Risk Assessments
Relevant safety alerts to all projects
Daily works activity briefings by the site supervisor
Regular toolbox talks on site

Employees are consulted and involved on health and safety matters where applicable and encouraged to make use of our “Open Door” policy, whereby ALL employees are able to approach and talk directly (freely, and without fear of retaliation) with ANY member of company management.
